If not for immigration, the population of this country would look very different than it does today. The level of acceptance or animosity toward the newly arrived has fluctuated considerably during our country’s history. Current attitudes regarding immigration are significantly and strongly divided. The issue of immigration and the attitudes about it provide us the opportunity to look deeply at the values contained in our Seven Principles.
